(B2) The six Somali pirates arrested by the Italian Navy, as part of Operation EUNAVFOR Atalanta, on November 19 (Read: Six pirates arrested in the Somali basin, between Seychelles and Somalia) were transferred to the Seychelles. The suspects, aged between 16 and 24, arrived in Seychelles on Thursday morning (23 November) at the port of Victoria. A transfer made under the agreement signed with the European Union.

It remains for the prosecutor to prosecute. " Prosecutions will depend on the evidence analyzed by the Attorney General's office “, underlined the acting commissioner of the prison of Montagne Posée, Raymond St Ange, according to the agency Seychelles News Agency.

The number of pirates detained in the archipelago has greatly reduced since the peak of piracy between 2009 and 2012. There are only 15 in the prison of the island.
