Czechs among Waco victims
(BRUSSELS2) Czechs could be among the victims of the explosion of fertilizer factories in West near Waco. This is mentioned by our Czech colleagues, in particular from Radio Prague. The town of West is indeed one of the main Czech centers in Texas, 3/4 of its 2700 inhabitants would have Czech origins, having immigrated to the United States in the XNUMXth century. Czech is still taught in local schools and masses in Czech are celebrated there. The Czech ambassador to the United States, Petr Gandalovič, goes to the scene of the accident. According to the honorary consul, many descendants of Czech immigrants are among the victims of the first explosion as well as among the firefighters injured by the second explosion while they were working on the scene.
