50 cases detected positive for coronavirus on the 'Charles-de-Gaulle'

Un communicated of the French army staff confirmed it this Friday a little before noon. There are indeed proven cases on board the flagship aircraft carrier of the French Navy. " Out of 66 tests carried out, the presence of 50 positive cases for Covid-19 on board is confirmed.

A medical team arrived

A medical team had arrived by air on the aircraft carrier on Wednesday (April 8) in the afternoon. Made up of two epidemiologists, a biosafety expert and a doctor in charge of sampling. This left the aircraft carrier on the evening of April 8 with the samples, for analysis. The other three doctors remained on board to carry out an epidemiological investigation. The objective is to identify the contamination circuit and support the protocol to limit the spread of the virus.

No serious condition?

No worsening of the state of health of the sailors on board has been observed at the present time. However, three sailors were evacuated as a preventive measure on Thursday (April 9) in the morning, by an NH90 Cayman Marine helicopter, to Lisbon airport, in Portugal. There, they were taken care of by a medicalized Falcon 900 aircraft with two doctors and a nurse on board and transferred to the Sainte-Anne Army Training Hospital (HIA) in Toulon.
