Cyprus adopts a law on private guards on board its ships (Update)

(BRUSSELS2) The government of Cyprus adopted on Friday (April 20) a draft law regulating the presence of armed guards on board ships flying its flag. It provides for an authorization for private guard companies, specially trained for this purpose. It also allows crews who consider themselves in danger to refuse boarding to dangerous areas, the repatriation of sailors being the responsibility of the shipowners.
