Albanians and Slovaks as reinforcements in the Althea mission

(BRUSSELS2) A contingent of 10 Albanian soldiers will join the European peacekeeping mission in Bosnia-Herzegovina (Eufor Althea). Their main task will be to ensure the detection and defusing of the numerous mines which still litter the soil of Bosnia. According to Bosnia's anti-mine strategy, the country should be free of mines by 2019.

Note also that Slovakia announced its intention to send 20 more soldiers to the mission.

Eufor Althea must begin its transformation into a non-executive mission. Preparatory planning for these activities began last July.
