Albanians and Slovaks as reinforcements in the Althea mission

(BRUSSELS2) A contingent of 10 Albanian soldiers will join the European peacekeeping mission in Bosnia-Herzegovina (Eufor Althea). Their main task will be to ensure the detection and defusing of the many mines that still litter Bosnia's soil. According to Bosnia's Mine Action Strategy, the country should be mine-free by 2019.

It should also be noted that Slovakia has announced its intention to send 20 more soldiers to the mission.

Eufor Althea must begin its transformation into a non-executive mission. Preparatory planning for these activities began last July.
