European aid to Haiti: the latest figures

(BRUSSELS2) Since the start of the crisis, the European Commission has provided emergency aid: 30 million euros (European Commission) and the Member States have contributed 92 million euros. Responding to the urgent appeal of the United Nations, the EU signaled its desire, on Monday during the special meeting of ministers of the 27, to " continue to contribute to emerging needs ". Concerning rehabilitation aid: the EU would provide preliminary non-humanitarian aid of 107 million euros (of which 20 million comes from reallocated sums), as well as longer-term aid of 200 million which will be specified according to the funds available. " This point is to be discussed with the EDF said Karel de Gucht, European Commissioner for Development and Humanitarian Aid, after the meeting.
