The death of the European diplomat reported missing in Haiti confirmed (update)

(B2 / update Tuesday January 19) Boal Pilar Juarez, who was number 2 at the EU “embassy” in Haiti, has died. Given a moment as identified by the spanish press, the body is still under the rubble according to the latest news but the chances of finding it alive are more than minimal. She was surprised by the earthquake in the United Nations building while attending a meeting. This is the first death in office for the EU diplomatic service since the establishment of the Lisbon Treaty. But this is not the first European agent to die on mission (read in memoriam). NB: three Spanish victims have, however, been confirmed, including a police inspector, Rosa Crespo Biel, who worked with the UN. Read here
