On the borders of Kosovo…

(BRUSSELS2) The Kosovo Border Police forces have started to intensify their activity, Eulex announced, along the green line (green border) which separates the former province of Kosovo, which proclaimed independent from Serbia. Although KFOR remains responsible for this activity, this increase in power is monitored by EULEX forces with a "Mentoring, Monitoring and Advising (MMA) program for Kosovo forces.

Eulex has particularly focused on strengthening infrastructure such as detention cells and interrogation rooms, the Rule of Law mission in Pristina explained. At Pristina International Airport, the KBP has three cells where suspects can be held for six hours before being transferred elsewhere. "Important support" according to Franz Eichler, one of the officers of Eulex, "because one day they will have to be able to manage everything by themselves, without international help".

NB: The police component of Eulex is the most important since it reaches around 1400 international police officers deployed throughout the territory.
