EUAM Iraq, soon engaged in Iraqi Kurdistan?

(B2) Advisors from EUAM Iraq, the European Union's Advice and Assistance Mission in Iraq, visited Erbil twice in June

The first visit took place at the beginning of June. Four 'strategic' advisers from EUAM Iraq visited the Erbil region. The opportunity to meet various local and international actors present on the ground: the High Council of the Kurdistan Regional Government in charge of Women's Affairs, the United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq (UNAMI), as well as civil society organizations . But also the opportunity to present and promote the work done by EUAM in terms of security sector reform.

During their second visit, between 24 and 25 June, the EUAM Iraq advisers met with representatives of the Ministry of the Interior. He recently invited EUAM Iraq to support him in his efforts to fight organized crime, including human trafficking and money laundering.

These two missions had been preceded by a first visit, from April 14 to 16, during which cooperation with Iraqi Kurdistan had been mentioned.

NB: the Iraqi question will be one of the main points of debate of the meeting of foreign ministers of the EU on Monday (July 15). And the head of European diplomacy, High Representative Federica Mogherini, is visiting the country this weekend.
