Spain (re)creates the crime of piracy

(B2) The Spanish Council of Ministers adopted, on Friday, a bill, which aims to reform 130 articles of the penal code, and adapt it to new forms of crime. In the draft sent to Parliament, there is a new offence: that of piracy. Will be punished with a sentence of 10 to 15 years whoever wants to "violently seize a ship or an aircraft, attack the people on board or the cargo". It is a question of responding to the problem of illicit acts of maritime piracy. Will also be punished with a sentence of 1 to 3 years anyone who resists the order of a warship acting in the context of the prevention and prosecution of this type of crime.
