COPS: a Belgian takes over from a Swede

WalterStevens@UE13(BRUSSELS2) We had already announced it on the B2 club several weeks ago. The news is now official. It is the Belgian diplomat Walter Stevens who will take over as the High Representative's delegate to chair the Political and Security Committee (PSC).

A return to basics in a way. If Walter Stevens is since the creation of the European Diplomatic Service (EEAS), director of the CMPD, the civil-military planning structure, he previously sat on the COPS as Belgian ambassador (see also: Two new heads at the helm of defense Europe?).

He thus replaces the Swede Olof Skoog who had taken on this first function since the establishment of the new high representative, and was appointed ambassador, head of the EU delegation to Indonesia (Read also: A Swede at the head of the COPS).
