The European medical profession no longer responds
(B2) Put in place with drums and trumpets after the Ebola epidemic crisis, the European medical corps remains idle.
Le European medical corps can " only be activated upon request from an affected country explained Stefan De Keersmaecker, spokesman for 'Health' for the European Commission, answering a question from B2, during the daily press briefing on Tuesday (17 March). " At this stage, there is no indication that a request will be made ".
« Currently, one emergency medical team, three advanced medical posts and two mobile laboratories could be considered fit for deployment in relation to the Covid-19 outbreak. »
However, given the situation any availability of personnel to deploy through this medical corps will depend on national capabilities ».
