The clashes between the Taliban and the security forces lasted almost all night. It was only in the morning that the dozen diplomats still in the embassy managed to evacuate the premises, according to hot news citing official sources.

Romanian embassy targeted

« The attackers targeted the embassy said Romanian Foreign Minister Ramona Mănescu on Radio Romania International. It is almost completely destroyed today. " The embassy is 80% destroyed and is unusable said the Minister to DCNews. The diplomats were transferred to a secure area: to a NATO base.

We will stay !

« This is not the first time that we have witnessed such attacks. " added Ramona Manescu. " It is true that we have been spared so far, but other civilian objectives have been targeted. This is one more reason to stay there. » The Romanian minister also spoke by telephone with EU High Representative Federica Mogherini. " We stressed the need to coordinate our joint actions, strengthen cooperation and remain consistent in promoting dialogue and peace for the stability of the region” she says about Twitter.

A Resolute support soldier affected

A few days later, a Romanian soldier (Corporal Ciprian-Ștefan Polschi), who was taking part in the operation Resolute Support of NATO, lost his life on Thursday (September 5) after a car bomb exploded in the protected neighborhood of Shash-Darak (near the Green Zone) while he was driving a vehicle of service. The attack, which caused a total of 10 deaths and 42 injuries, caused another victim among the NATO troops: an American.

One of the big participants in Resolute Support
