Spanish Navy Relay in Operation Sophia

(B2) The frigate Reina Sofia (F-84) of the Spanish Navy took over off Naples from its sister frigate Numancia (F-83) in the EU anti-trafficking operation in the Mediterranean (EUNAVFOR MED/ Sophia). This confirms Spain's determined commitment to keeping a vessel available for the operation.

The Reina Sofia is a regular in European maritime operations. She had already participated in Operation Sophia in 2016 (read: 706 migrants saved by Reina Sofia) just like the anti-piracy operation in the Indian Ocean in 2012 (read: A Yemeni dhow, serving as a mother ship, released)
