It recruits hard for six European missions. To your resume...

(BRUSSELS2) The renewal of the teams in Afghanistan and Kosovo above all (this is where the positions offered are the most numerous) but also in the Congo or Palestine and the establishment of three new EU missions in Africa ( particularly in Niger) are currently leading the European diplomatic service to offer recruitment after offer. These calls follow the end of certain contracts but also the plans for reviewing assignments which lead to a repositioning of the profiles sought. There are five in the works right now. And it doesn't seem quite finished

Spoiled for choice ?

If you want to go abroad, you are therefore spoiled for choice... There is something for all tastes and all professions. More than a thousand positions are thus offered, on secondment from your position in a Member State or by contract (depending on the case). The salary is often comfortable. But the places of employment are not always very pleasant! (especially in Afghanistan). And at the end of the road, there can be disappointments. The work can therefore often seem far from the adventure of the open sea. And many difficulties. But the stakes and the challenges to be met are also worth the trip. So... keep your head on your shoulders!

A few tips...

It is strongly advised to carefully read the job descriptions offered and complete the application form. The recommended profiles often require strong and long experience, knowledge of the country or area concerned, a perfect knowledge of English (and French for French-speaking areas) and a certain psychological solidity. Applications for posts offered on secondment must always pass through your "hierarchy" in your Member State. For contract positions, if it is not compulsory in the strict sense, it is also advisable to get in touch with your State of origin and to obtain advice and recommendations.

Wanted positions

In afghanistan (EUPOL), different functions are recruited: security officer, health officer, electrician, press and information, . But they are above all trainers/advisers in all sectors: justice, rule of law, anti-corruption, police (command, control and communications), borders, anti-crime, intelligence. “Mentors” to the various officials (Minister of the Interior, Minister of Justice, Attorney General, etc.) are also sought. Finally, the justice and urban police programs (CPJP) recruit high-level specialists to advise, train and supervise the Afghan equivalents - at the level of the police, justice, anti-corruption - in the provinces. Most positions are located in Kabul, but some assignments are in the provinces (Herat, Bamyan, Mazar-e-Sharif, Kunduz, Kandahar, Pol-e Khomri, Chaghcharan).

In Kosovo (EULEX), the recruitment sphere is also quite broad. But due to the strongly legal dimension of the mission, we will not be surprised to see the search for profiles of prosecutors, magistrates, civil or criminal judges, lawyers and legislative experts, .... But in fact it is a bit of the whole police and judicial chain that we recruit: from criminal and police investigation specialists (legal identification, judicial police, etc.) to the coordinator of helicopter operations, passing through certain specific qualifications (operations officer at the situation center, specialist in human rights, war crimes, property rights, weapons..., customs officers, clerks or chief clerks). The mission also recruits its management and support: press information, human resources manager, transport manager, head of the logistics unit and logisticians, telecommunications, warehouse manager, fuel supply manager, etc. Positions are often based in Pristina. But some are in Mitrovica (northern Kosovo).

In Congo (EUPOL), it is naturally above all experts from the Congolese National Police (PNC) who are sought: legislative experts, trainers, police, human rights and children's rights, law enforcement and crowd control. ..

In Palestine (EUBAM and EUPOL missions), we are looking for more limited profiles: Political adviser, liaison officer, software development officer, police advisers, prosecution expert (prosecutors), adviser on the justice program (for the EUPOL mission), customs officer and border control expert (for the EUBAM mission)

In Niger (for the new EUCAP mission), the future capacity building mission is proceeding with its wave of recruitments. Candidates must take office either on 1er August, i.e. 1er September. We are thus recruiting (or we are in the process of doing so) the deputy head of mission (who will also serve as head of personnel), the political adviser, the head of operations, the head of the coordination team, a press, an expert in criminal intelligence training (with the rank of gendarmerie captain), an experienced military expert (with the rank of colonel), liaison officers with the main ministries (Interior, Justice, Defence). And certain support functions (human resources, public procurement, logistics, information systems, medical, security, accounting, press information)… NB: All positions are based in Niamey, the capital.
