(B2) The Turkish capital, Ankara, was hit at the end of the afternoon by an attack which clearly targeted military institutions.

A car bomb exploded as a convoy of military buses passed, a few hundred meters from the army headquarters, the parliament and the offices of Prime Minister Davutoğlu.

The report, which mentioned a few injuries at the start, quickly increased over the hours. The latest assessment drawn up by the government spokesperson at 21 p.m. mentions “ at least 28 people and 61 injured ».

Very quickly in front of the importance, in number, as symbolic of the attack, Ahmet Davutoğlu canceled his visit to Brussels for the mini-summit scheduled for Thursday on the migration crisis with several European leaders. And the messages of condolences arrived from different capitals in Europe.

Jens Stoltenberg (NATO): the solidarity of the Atlantic Alliance

I strongly condemn the terrorist attack which struck at the heart of Ankara tonight, targeting buses carrying military personnel. I offer my deepest condolences to the families of those killed and to the Turkish people. My thoughts are also with those who have been wounded. There can be no justification for such horrific acts. NATO Allies stand shoulder to shoulder in the fight against terrorism.

Federica Mogherini and Johannes Hahn (EC): "the condolences of the European Union"

Another terrible attack hit the center of Ankara tonight. The EU extends condolences to the families of the victims killed in the attack and wishes a speedy recovery to those injured. Our fullest sympathy goes to the Turkish people and authorities. We are with Turkey and its people in these difficult times and stand by all those who suffer from the consequences of such violence, and of terrorism.

Paris, François Hollande: "a heinous attack"

The President of the Republic denounces the heinous attack which claimed many victims in Ankara this evening. It sends the Turkish authorities and the Turkish people its support and all its solidarity in the face of this new ordeal.

Berlin, Frank-Walter Steinmeier: "shocked (by this) cowardly act"

Ich bin erschüttert über die Nachricht, wonach erneut eine Explosion in der Türkei zahlreiche Menschenleben gefordert hat. If you do not have any details, you will not be able to do so. Aber wenn sich Medienberichte bestätigen sollten, dass es sich um einen Terroranschlag handelt, wäre das ein neuerlicher feiger Akt der Gewalt in der Türkei. You can also choose the right gilt of the Angehörigen der Opfer. The old words are written with the same genes.

The Turkish authorities have not indicated who their suspicions are about. The Kurdish PKK is of course suspected, having in the past distinguished itself in attacks against the symbols of the Turkish state. But the organization of the Islamic State (Daesh / ISIS) could also be involved. For the Turkish power, this attack could thus justify the continuation of its offensives in Syria.
