The Cavour resumes command of EUNAVFOR Med. Spanish and German rotations

(B2) The Italian aircraft carrier Cavour took over command this week of the European operation to combat traffickers in the Mediterranean (EUNAVFOR Med / Op. Sophia) replacing his alter ego Garibaldi. The force staff of 50 soldiers from 22 Member States embarked on board. 

La spanish frigate ESPS Numancia (F-83) replaces his alter ego theESPS Canary Islands (F-86), both of the Santa Maria class, after almost 4 months of commitment at sea while the corvette German FGS Ludwigshafen am Rhein (F-264) and the ship I will help FGS Frankfurt am Hair relayed, respectively, the mine hunter FGS Weilheim, present for 2 months in the area, and the support ship FGS Berlin, engaged in the operation for more than 100 days.

During these two months of commitment, the two Garibaldi's EH 101 helicopters carried out 27 surveillance and patrol missions, flying more than 58 hours to " gather information on suspicious activities at sea we underline at the HQ of the European operation.
