(B2) Italy will send 450 Italian soldiers to Iraq to protect the Mosul dyke rehabilitation works.

This dyke, located 70 km north of Mosul, is very damaged and requires repairs. The Italian company Trevi from Cesena however, cannot begin work without protection. Prime Minister Matteo Renzi therefore announced this deployment of forces on Tuesday (December 15) during the broadcast Door to Door of the RAI. However, it remains subject to the authorization of the Iraqi government and parliament.

These men join the operation First Parthica / Inherent Resolve, in which 750 soldiers are already participating in the international coalition to train Kurdish and Iraqi forces.
