Man suspected of murdering Kosovar policeman arrested in Kosovo

EnverZymberi(B2) Task Force Mitrovica (TFM) assisted by European police officers from EULEX arrested an individual in Zupče / Zupç, northern Kosovo, on suspicion of the murder of a police officer.

The 32-year-old man is suspected of having murdered a Kosovo Police (KP) policeman, Enver Zymberi, in the summer of 2011, during an attack on a KP convoy in which he was traveling. An international arrest warrant had been issued by Interpol at the request of UNMIK - the United Nations Mission in Kosovo. The arrested suspect was transferred to the EULEX logistics base in Mitrovica for further questioning.

Born in 1979, Enver Zymberi joined the Kosovo police in 2002. He was part of the special forces. He was shot dead in Leposavic, on July 26, 2011, near the border crossing point between Kosovo and Serbia, during an operation by the Kosovar State to provide security in the area of ​​​​north Kosovo which escaped under his control. At the time, members of parallel structures Serbian extremists had staged several attacks against the forces. Shot by a sniper in the head, the policeman was evacuated in critical condition to the university clinic in Pristina (QKUK) where he died in the evening.
