(B2) The MV Orna, an Emirati freighter, was released on Saturday (October 20) by Somali pirates. The Dutch amphibious warfare ship Rotterdam (which is one of the two ships of NATO's Ocean Shield force) was not far from the place of release, he went first to the scene to provide the necessary medical support to the ex-hostages. "The crew was relieved to see us (...) We carried out medical examinations, provided water, food, and a listening ear in general. The crew is in relatively good physical healthdeclared Lieutenant Commander Rijkers, doctor on board.

The cargo ship was kidnapped off the Seychelles in December 2010. The pirates announced that they had let the cargo ship go after receiving a ransom of approximately $400.000, although this information remains to be confirmed. They are still holding the captain, chief engineer and 4 of the 19 crew members until another ransom is paid. Somali sources had also recently mentioned the death of one of the hostages.
