Enver Sekiraqa arrested!

(credit: Interpol)

(B2) Under a UN arrest warrant since 2008 for his alleged involvement in the murder of a Kosovo police special forces officer, Enver Sekiraqa was arrested on Friday (September 28) in Pristina by officers of the European Rule of Law Mission (EULEX). The accused would have surrendered himself to the authorities of the Union, according to Eulex. Considered one of the godfathers of the Kosovo mafia and the most wanted criminal in the country, his surrender is a significant point in the fight against crime in Kosovo. In addition to cases of murder and international organized crime, the 38-year-old man is implicated by Interpol in cases of rape and other sexual crimes. The man was found for the first time in 2010 in Ireland, but could not be arrested, for lack of an operational European extradition mechanism for Kosovo.
