Red curtain for Atalanta

(credit: Letzte Kleinod)

(BRUSSELS2)"Atalanta“It is not only the code name of a European operation aimed at fighting piracy, it is also now the name of a play.

Created by the German troupe, Das Letzte Kleinod (The Last Treasure), this performance was performed on Thursday (September 6) at the JadeWeserPort, against the backdrop of the container ships of the port of Wilhelmshaven. A strategic location if ever there was one, since it is from there that the German frigates depart for the anti-piracy operation. Exactly! Because this play intends to describe the capture of the ships, the life of the sailors on board, the negotiation... To give his play all its truth, the director Jens-Erwin Siemssen and his collaborator Melanie Pieper were on site in Kenya and in Tanzania, and spoke with the shipowners, the sailors of the hijacked ships... They love to transpose their pieces on the very places in relation to the events they retrace and not in the rooms with the red curtains.
