Sachsen frigate joins EU anti-piracy operation Atalanta

(B2) The "Sachsen" frigate will leave its home port of Wilhelmshaven (Germany) on July 23 to join the EU anti-piracy operation (EUNAVFOR Atalanta). She should be in the area at the beginning of August (it takes 14 days of transit between Germany and the Horn of Africa) and will thus take over from the frigate "Bremen". Duration of the mission until December. Under the command of Commander Andreas Krug, the Sachsen has two helicopters on board the “Sea Lynx. board, a legal adviser as well as military police and a translator.
