The European flag flies over Tripoli

(BRUSSELS2) The European crisis management team arrived in Tripoli to carry out an initial preliminary reconnaissance and open, on a provisional basis, the European Union delegation in Tripoli. The flag was hoisted on the building this morning. This reconnaissance team is placed under the leadership of Agostino Miozzo, the director of the Crisis Management department at the diplomatic service, and includes people who have followed the Libyan crisis from the beginning. Objective: make a first reconnaissance, make contacts, show the European presence. The formal opening of the delegation will take a few more days. Because it is still necessary "to carry out certain formalities" as well as to secure the whole. " We hope to do this as soon as possible confirmed to B2 a European diplomat.

NB: a first evaluation team from the European Humanitarian Aid Office has already arrived in the Libyan capital. But faithful to its tradition of making a subtle distinction between political action and humanitarian action, the latter could remain in premises other than the diplomatic team.
