Dirk Wouters, new Belgian Ambassador to the EU

(B2) The current head of cabinet of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, S. Vanackere, will occupy (from 15 September) the post of permanent representative of Belgium to the European Union. Dirk Wouters was posted in Rome and New York and for six years Ambassador to the COPS - the Political and Security Committee of the EU. He was also Herman Van Rompuy's diplomatic adviser when he was Prime Minister until his departure for Europe as President of the European Council.
On the Foreign Affairs side, it is Vincent Houssiau who takes the post of Chief of Staff to the Minister. He is now Diplomatic Advisor to the Prime Minister, for whom he will continue to prepare the European Council.
