A new spokesperson for NATO: a…
It is now official. The new NATO spokesperson will be our colleague from the BBC currently stationed in Brussels, Oana Lungescu. An excellent professional, let's be honest!
Originally from Romania, she left her country in 1985 to join the Romanian section of the BBC where she notably covered all the developments in the countries of Central Europe, in particular their march towards the EU and NATO. She has been based in Brussels since 1997, covering both the EU and NATO.
Perfectly practicing the language and customs of Shakespeare's country, like French or German, Oana is thus the first spokesperson to come from "the other side of the wall", after the Canadian James Appathurai and the Briton Jamie Shea. She takes office on December 1.
