No progress at the 2nd Eufor Chad Force Generation Conference

(B2 - archives) The second force generation conference on November 14 did not bring any major changes, the delegations reserving the new announcements for the Council of Defense Ministers on November 19.

Lack of logistical and transport needs

If the needs in human forces are more or less satisfied (Finland with 40 men (1), and especially the two Irish and Polish battalions, etc.), the question of logistical means remains crucially short, warned General Pat Nash, commander of the ESDP operation in Chad.

Spain, France and Greece

Currently only Spain (with 2 Casa planes), France (already present in Chad which offers tonnages transported) and possibly Greece (with a C-130 plane) have specifically announced that they are making air resources available, as well as the Portugal and Macedonia for helicopters.

Next meeting November 21.
