The "health care" dossier removed from the Commission's Agenda

(B2) "The Commission's agenda was very heavy on Wednesday", so the dossier on cross-border healthcare has been postponed to a later date, next year, probably January. With
the much-discussed issue of CO2, "it was difficult to tackle two such important issues at the same time." says a spokesperson. In addition, some points deserved to be re-discussed. The frontal opposition of several Commissioners, from all sides, from many Member States - as dissimilar as the United Kingdom, Denmark, Spain or Slovakia - from all the social partners (employers and trade unions) in the sector and NGOs, it was indeed more than urgent to review this file, badly put together, which has implications beyond patients' rights and intends in fact to revisit the organization and financing of social security in many countries, without introduce compensation for patients who cannot travel abroad for treatment.
