The Berlin again in the Mediterranean

VesselBerlinA1411@EUnavforMed151019(B2) The German Support Ship Berlin (A-1411) took over from Werra as part of the European anti-trafficking operation in the Mediterranean (EUNAVFOR Med / Sophia). Upon arrival in the port of Augusta (Sicily) in mid-October, several briefings were organized and equipment transferred to the ship to allow proper coordination with the other ships in the operation. For the majority of the 160 crew members, the area is not a discovery. The combat support ship had, in fact, been urgently diverted, at the end of April 2015, with the "Hessen" frigate, from their way back from Operation Atalanta in the Horn of Africa to relief operations in Mediterranean Sea. Between May 8 and June 8, the crew had participated in saving 991 people in distress in three different operations. Just before the official launch of Operation EUNAVFOR Med.
