A Portuguese submarine in Operation Sophia and a frigate in Themis

(B2) The Portuguese submarine NRP Arpao (S-161) made its first stopover after a dive in the port of Augusta, Italy, as part of its mission within the EU maritime operation in the Mediterranean (EUNAVFOR Med / Sophie).

When at the Portuguese frigate Alvares Cabral (F-331), she arrived in the area, but this time in support of the other EU operation, in charge of European Union border control led by the Frontex agency off the Italian coast ( operation Themis).

The frigate moored at the port of Catania in Italy, where it will remain for several days, the time to receive instructions and guidance from the Frontex agency on the areas requiring greater vigilance taking into account the migratory flow. She is expected to remain engaged in the operation until September 24.
