EULEX Kosovo pays tribute to one of its own. The investigation not closed
(B2) The European mission deployed in Kosovo (EULEX Kosovo) paid tribute on September 19 to one of its own, Audrius Šenavičius, killed “ on the front line in the north of Kosovo, September 19, 2013. The current head of the mission, the Greek Alexandra Papadopoulou, thus came to bow to the place where this Lithuanian customs officer had been shot four years ago. " Audrius made the ultimate sacrifice. And nothing can replace the loss of a loved one. We have lost a valued team member ". The whole mission observed the traditional minute of silence.
The perpetrators of the wanted act
The exact circumstances of the act are still not known. " Of many questions surrounding this murder stay put acknowledged Papadopoulou. EULEX continues to seek information that could help bring the perpetrators of Audrius' murder to justice. Even offering a reward for any information came to nothing (read: Wanted). " Justice deserves to be served. I ask anyone who has information of any kind ". Same " minor information could be essential information for investigators we underline at the mission.
Some questions
NB: several questions still arise: who carried out this attack? Simple thugs (which seems doubtful given the circumstances), Serbs from northern Kosovo or... Kosovars close to the regime in place in Pristina who want to put an end to the mission? The manner in which the attack was carried out – which looks more like an ambush than a shooting error (according to our information) – could raise questions. Similarly, the question could arise of the degree of protection of European police officers on mission (were the type of vehicles used and their armor adapted to the volatile situation? ...)
