(B2) The frigate Louise-Marie will join the European operation Sophia against trafficking in the Mediterranean (EUNAVFOR Med). The Belgian frigate (F-931) cast off from its home port, Zeebrugge, on Friday (November 11).

On board approximately 150 military personnel (NB: the standard crew of the frigate includes 15 officers, 70 non-commissioned officers and 60 sailors). Duration of the planned commitment: one and a half months. With a planned return to the country, just before Christmas, on December 22.

The motto of this ship " Ad augusta per angusta» (“Towards the summits by narrow paths”) corresponds quite well to the challenges of this operation which is not an easy task. The Belgian Navy had already participated, in 2015, for two months in this operation with the frigate Léopold I.
