New pirate attack in the Gulf of Oman

(BRUSSELS2) A merchant ship was chased by 3 pirate skiffs this morning (6 March), 37 miles off the coast of Oman (off Sur, at the entrance to the Gulf of Oman). On board each skiff, 2 pirates each. The pursuers closed very close to the ship, about 1000 meters from the ship. The ship was able to escape by accelerating and taking all the precautionary measures usually recommended by anti-piracy forces (and summarized in a document called BMP4). An attack had already taken place in the same area (closer to Pakistan, however, at the end of February).
