Arrest of an individual suspected of war rape

(BRUSSELS2) A wanted individual “ for war crimes against civilian populations was arrested in Kosovo. The man is accused of having raped an Albanian Kosovar during the conflict which shook the country between 1998 and 1999, as stated in a press release from EULEX, the European "Rule of Law" mission deployed in the country.

The arrest was carried out by the War Crimes Investigation Unit (WICIU) of the EULEX police at the request of a European judge from the court in Mitrovica (northern Kosovo). The investigation is being led by a special prosecutor from the EULEX mission from the Special Investigation Bureau for Kosovo (SPRK).
