The regime or a role in Syria? F. Hollande's message to Putin

(BRUSSELS2) For the French President, François Hollande, who has just spoken at the end of the European Council, the message from France to the Russians, “to President Putin” on Syria is clear: “ We respect Russia's position in this region and the interests it may still hold or preserve. It is legitimate. Russia is one of those powers that can contribute to balance, to stability. I have repeatedly assured President Putin that post-Assad will not mean the end of the relationship that this great country has in Syria. And to add: « Lifting the arms embargo does not mean severing the relationship with Russia. (...) Everything must be done to involve Russia in this political solution. But the initiatives taken so far have shown no results. Bashar's asserted desire to organize elections in 2014 and to stand there proves it.. " This is not the expected opening ". For the French president, i Military pressure is part of the political solution ". Understood message: do you have an interest in the destabilization of the region or in a victory for the fundamentalists who are better armed today?
