(BRUSSELS2) As usual since the start of the anti-piracy operation Eunavfor Atalanta, it was the British who appointed the new commander of the European Union operation, according to a division of tasks defined at its launch. Rear-Admiral (Vice-Admiral in French) Robert (Bob) Tarrant should thus replace his compatriot Rear-Admiral Potts on January 16th. The decision was officially published in the OJ today after the approval by the "27" COPS ambassadors on December 18th. Tarrant, who has just been appointed rear admiral, also succeeds rear admiral Potts as commander of the British maritime forces.
