Private guards on board Belgian ships

(B2) The Belgian government decided on Wednesday (9 May) to submit a bill allowing the boarding of private guards on board merchant ships flying the national flag. This is revealed by the business daily De Tijd. The project should be ready this summer and voted on in the second half of the year by parliament. Belgium had made soldiers available to it in exchange for significant costs, and under certain restrictive conditions which dissuaded the shipowners from resorting to them.
