The Enrica Lexie, held in seizure

(B2) The High Court of Kerala opposed, in early April, the lifting of the seizure affecting the Italian vessel Enrica Lexie retained in India. According to the Indian court, the application for release from seizure should have been made first to the local court in Kollam – which made the original decision to seize – and then to the High Court. In addition to the two imprisoned Italian marines, the commander of the ship, U. Vittelli, and the 4 other marines are heard as witnesses by Indian justice for the death of fishermen. The ballistic expertise has so far yielded nothing. But the Indian police suspect the Italians of having made the weapon which killed the fishermen disappear.
