A twelfth project for the European Defense Agency?

(BRUSSELS2) To the 11 projects to strengthen military capabilities, approved by the Council of Defense Ministers, another could soon be added on November 30: that on IEDs – improvised explosive devices. It could also have been presented during the meeting. He was almost ready. And one country, Spain, was ready to provide leadership; the Spaniards in fact have a center of excellence on the subject, approved by NATO. However, the political transition underway in Madrid did not allow this.

As an expert on the subject indicated to B2, several subjects were the subject of an agreement between the old government (socialists) and the new one (popular), to ensure a good transition. But not the question of European defense. If on the fight against piracy, Carme Chacon has was thus able to announce in Brussels its desire to see the Atalanta anti-piracy operation extended, a point which seems to generate (today) consensus (this was not the case when the popular party was in opposition), the involvement in defense industrial projects have not yet made an agreement between the different protagonists in Madrid. We will therefore have to wait a few more weeks before the new government announces its intentions.
