Iran: EU sanctions sec for lack of Iranian response

(BRUSSELS2, European Summit) The 27 Heads of State and Government meeting in Brussels took a whole range of possible sanctions against Iran. The addition is salty. Because the EU goes further than the UN, to sanction Iran's lack of cooperation in nuclear matters. Among the prohibitions, maritime and air transport, the financial sector, technology transfers or new investments, services and equipment in the oil and gas sector. This is a knock on the wallet of Iranian power (provided no one takes over). The Foreign Ministers meet again on July 26 to give details of the measures.

last call

This is an essential warning message. A European "last call", in a way, to the Iranian authorities for a more concrete dialogue. Catherine Ashton, the Union's chief diplomat, wrote to Iranian negotiator Said Jalili last week. But no response so far. As William Hague, the British Foreign Secretary, said, "We want to talk with Iran. But it refuses to play the game". "We are always open to dialogue - confirms a European diplomat - and continue our dual approach"(diplomatic dialogue, sanctions).
