Change Iran's nuclear approach say six EU diplomats

(BRUSSELS2) This is what six European diplomats say who know Iran well, having been ambassadors for their country there. Richard Dalton (UK), Steen Hohwü-Christensen (Sweden), Paul von Maltzahn (Germany), Guillaume Metten (Belgium), François Nicoullaud (France) and Roberto Toscano (Italy) believe that the time has come for "questioned"especially on Western policy vis-à-vis the Iranian nuclear. Their argument published in Le Monde and several other European newspapers intend to dismantle some presuppositions.

First of all, the foundation on international law seems more fragile than it seems, they underline. Nothing in international treaties prohibits positioning oneself as a " threshold country ". And the "threat to peace is exaggerated. Because Iran would not be the first nor the only country in the world to approach the limit of nuclear enrichment. So get out of this dilemma, they say, and focus on other issues – like human rights and political rights. We must trust the IAEA - or else to... dismantle it if it only serves " the only virtuous countries ". The partners in this dossier (Iran, EU, USA, Russia) must therefore ask together at the IAEA whatever it deems necessary to fully control the Iranian nuclear program and credibly guarantee that it is indeed peaceful in all its dimensions ».
