Ronald Reagan choppers lightly irradiated. US Navy precautionary measure

The radiation is probably weak... But the US Navy didn't hesitate. The HQ of the 7th fleet today ordered its ships that were too close to the Fukushima Dai-Ichi nuclear plant (Japan) to reposition themselves. The USS Ronald Reagan was thus about 100 miles northeast of the nuclear plant.

But the measurements carried out on the three helicopter crews returning from rescue missions near Sendai made it possible to identify a level of radiation on the 17 crew members. Level higher than normal but still very modest. According to 7th Fleet HQ, the maximum radiation the serviceman was exposed to when passing through the area "was less than exposure to radiation received during a mold exposure from natural sources such as rocks, soil or the sun". And one "washing with soap and water" made it possible to reduce the level of radiation. But as a "precautionary measure", the USS Ronald Reagan and other 7th Fleet vessels engaged in the earthquake relief operation were directed out of the direction of the wind from the site and "determine appropriate action needed"
