Japanese tanker freed from pirate attack

The USS Bulkeley (DDG 84) belonging to CTF 151 avoided the capture of a Japanese tanker by Somali pirates on Saturday (March 5). It was around 3 p.m. local time when the tanker MV Guanabara, sailing under the Bahamian flag, reported an attack 320 miles southeast of Duqm, near Oman. The American ship went to the scene, assisted by the Turkish frigate TCG Giresun, of the NATO force (CTF 508). The SH 60 ship's helicopter confirms the capture, a boarding party lands on the tanker. The 4 pirates present surrender without resistance, according to the HQ of the US fleet. The crew who had taken refuge in the citadel can find the open air.
