The pirates “free” one of their mother ships

A Taiwanese fishing vessel, the Tai Yuan 227, captured by pirates has just been released. Or at least, we have now learned of this release, confirmed by the European anti-piracy HQ "Atalanta". The circumstances of his release remain unclear, it is officially specified at HQ. "The pirates would have freed the boat or it would have escaped". But this liberation is not neutral.

A "release" whose details remain to be specified

This fishing boat was, in fact, one of those listed by the international forces as being used as a mother and supply ship to carry out other capture operations, mainly in the Arabian Sea. According to some information it seems probable that at least one of the ships of the multinational fleet was present in the area. The Dutch ship, Hr. Ms. De Ruyter (which participates in the NATO mission) could have contributed, at least indirectly, to this release. Since he had carried out an "active" action on the ship, destroying the engine of one of his skiffs (or even a little more!), last Friday.

An American ship to the rescue

The Tai Yuan 227 was captured on May 6, 700 miles northeast of the Seychelles. It includes a crew of 28 people (Chinese, Vietnamese, Kenyans and Mozambicans). It was supplied with food and fresh water by a warship just after the liberation.
