Black tide. The EU comes to the aid of the United States

(B2) The European Commission has decided to activate its Civil Protection intervention mechanism for... the United States. This is the first intervention of this type. The "Civil Protection" crisis cell has, in fact, received a request from the American coast guards in the face of the oil spill that has reached the Gulf of Mexico, to provide specific oil recovery equipment (rigid arms that can be attached behind the boats). Spain, in less than an hour, followed by the Netherlands and the European Maritime Safety Agency offered equipment available. The costs of transportation, installation and replacement of these arms will be covered by a company under US contract.
