Black tide. The EU comes to the aid of the United States

(B2) The European Commission has decided to activate its Civil Protection intervention mechanism for… the United States. This is the first intervention of this type. The “Civil Protection” crisis unit has, in fact, received a request from the American Coast Guard in the face of the oil spill reaching the Gulf of Mexico, to provide specific oil recovery equipment (rigid arms that can be attached behind the boats). Spain, in less than an hour, followed by the Netherlands and the European Maritime Safety Agency offered available equipment. The costs of transport, installation and replacement of these arms will be covered by a company under US contract.
