Hearing of the 7 pirates who attacked Cap St Vincent fixed in 2010

(B2) The hearing of the seven pirates alleged to have attacked the Breton tuna boat Cape St. Vincent was set in Mombasa next year, on January 7 and 8, 2010, reports the Kenyan press. The prosecutor also rejected the defense lawyer's complaints, Jared Magolo, saying that the pirates had not received food for two days and had been mistreated during their stay at the port police station (to whom the German soldiers from Karlsruhe delivered them on Monday). State prosecutor Vincent Monda informed the magistrate in charge of the case that no complaint had been received by him. Likewise, he rejected defense allegations that there had been mistreatment during the stay on the German war frigate, with the suspects having been placed in a closed container where they could not see the light of day. Furthermore, two of the suspects whose age was in doubt were considered adults after a medical examination. The suspects were imprisoned in the prison of Shimo la Tewa.

It should also be noted that the Avocats du Monde organization which assists Somali pirates has requested a grant (200000 euros) from the European Union to enable it to monitor and verify human rights.
