Two Slovak helicopters in Bosnia for Althea

(B2)Slovakia will provide two Mi-17 transport helicopters - with a crew of 35 - from February 19 for a period of 4 months (until June 15) for the needs of the military operation of the EU in Bosnia, "Eufor Althea". The decision was taken by the Ministry of Defence. The allocated budget is one million euros.

Slovakia has participated in the European operation since 2004. It also has a unit of 35 military policemen, responsible for guarding the IPU camp (integrated police unit), that is to say, carrying out the usual tasks of the military police (patrols, surveillance of the camp. ..). It is now commanded by Lieutenant-Commander Richard Krivo?enko.

It could be one of the last participations at least in the current format of Althea if the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Defense decide, in March, to close the mission.
