Roxxy, a three-year-old Belgian Malinois, already has a little experience as a patrol dog in Latvia with the border police. His two "colleagues", Aira Arfa and Dali, have both been trained in drug detection, while Roxxy is a patrol dog also trained in the search for drugs. Eulex dogs are also trained in arrest, protection, search in buildings or woods, etc. Other dogs should come to join the mission, specialized in the detection of explosives.

This is the first time that a canine team has been deployed on the ground of a European Union operation. Soldiers in Chad had also set up horses, to patrol different places during the rainy season.

NB: Why K9? Pronounce K and 9 in English and you will have understood...
