8 million additional euros for the Eujust lex mission

(BRUXELLES2) The European support mission for Iraqi police and justice (EUJUST Lex Irak) will benefit from around 8 million additional euros until the end of June 2009. It plans to carry out around 25 training activities and secondments before the end of June 2009. As of November 1, 2008, 1795 magistrates, senior police and prison officials have taken part in 80 integrated and specialized courses and 15 secondments of practical experience. Training is currently taking place in EU Member States on the basis of joint curricula developed to " meet the specific needs of the Iraqi criminal justice system while maintaining a focus on human rights ". The mission had a budget of 21,3 million euros covered by the Community budget.
