Eleven states have ratified the Lisbon Treaty

(B2) Eleven States have now deposited their instrument of ratification. These are: Malta and Hungary (February 6), France (February 14), Romania (March 11), Slovenia (April 24), Bulgaria (April 28), Austria (May 13), Denmark (May 29), Latvia (and not Estonia as mentioned by mistake) (June 16), Portugal (June 17). Slovakia ratified on June 24.

Of course this figure seems lower than the figures announced - elsewhere in the press. But it is the only one that is legally valid. The only formality, which has legal force for a text of international law, is, in fact, the filing of the act of ratification. It is thus only in the 27th Member State depositing its ratification that the Treaty of Lisbon comes into force (the month following the last deposit - and at the earliest on January 1, 2009). For example, Poland, which politically ratified the Treaty of Lisbon (cf. carte of the European Commission) has still not deposited its instrument of ratification (the President of the Republic is delaying signing the act of ratification).
